Official Google Reader Blog: A hearty welcome to... →
I thought this was the end (or at least close to it) of my search for the perfect way to consume feeds. Unfortunately, after trying it for couple of minutes I’ve decided that it is too early. Anyways, I like the direction they’ve taken.

The Fake Free by Jeff Jarvis and Chris Anderson
They both speak about free. They both wrote a book. Printed and sold in bookstores. Not really free though. And both are suggesting that newspapers should give up their print version. And leave their content available for free. Isn’t this sort of funny?

Is this the alternative to iPhone 3GS?
Is the HTC Hero a good alternative to iPhone 3GS? By looking at GSMArena you could say so, but there are others that do not agree. The only thing concerning me is that there is no sign of his launch in Romania. On a related note, I’m wondering when will the companies in Romania learn that their customers are not stupid and shouldn’t be ignored and that opening up will help their...

The Future of Videos on the Internet
Every time I’m watching a video on the internet I’m wondering if it would be a better and easier way. Firstly, I’d like to get a transcript of the video. Through a bookmarklet or anything Javascripty. This way I could quickly skim over it and pick the parts that I’m interested in. Then, I’d like to have each phrase linked back to the specific point in the video. In...

Creating a Real Brand
Brands are wonderful assets when they capture the essence of a product, service, or event succinctly, meaningfully, and with endurance over time.[…] But when branding becomes a fad, it can reduce communication. On Enterprise Software
[…] the user experience in enterprise software has always been “pure shit” — the only difference is that in the past, we had nothing to compare it to, so we couldn’t tell how bad things were. Eric Marcoullier, CEO Gnip Unfortunately, I’ll have to disagree with this opinion. I think the enterprise software has usually offered a very bad experience to those using it, because the...

Microsoft Azure Pricing: More Expensive Than...
I assume BusinessInsider editors were a bit confused when they wrote that the Azure prices are on par with those of Amazon and Google. As you can see in the attached graph both CPU and outgoing bandwidth are more expensive (with 25% and 20% respectively). As you can imagine these, along with storage, are the resources that you’ll use most and so it makes Microsoft Azure expensive compared...

Orange Romania Strategy: Fast and Cheap
You have probably heard of the project triangle, the one that says that you can pick only 2 out of the following 3 attributes: Fast, Good and Cheap. It looks like Orange Romania has picked its strategy: small (ie cheap) and accelerated (ie fast), leaving aside quality. Why would they consider quality on a market where they can easily ignore you customers?

Me and The Real-time Hero
Me: Can I have a freeze button?
RT: What would that do?
Me: Allow me to go through what is already in... you know, just stop the stream...
RT: But you'd be loosing real-time? Don't you know that real-time is the new black?
Me: Well, I guess it might be. But if you always follow the stream, you'll never have a moment to stop and think.

I'm confused: Microsoft or Google?
Throughout his career at Microsoft, when Bill Gates came up against a rival with an impressive product, his standard move was to dedicate Microsoft’s resources toward coming out with a Microsoft version of the product. Microsoft would then refine that version—and, ultimately, in many cases, build a better one—while slowly but surely driving the innovator’s product into irrelevance. This is a...
